Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge needs four elements in place to be successful - funding, volunteers, a deserving homeowner, and land to build on.

Land is a critical need. Approved Habitat families have completed all of their sweat-equity hours and yet we have not been able to locate affordable land on which to build their homes. Land in the Baton Rouge region continues to be the largest, single expenditure when building a home. If you can help, we'd like to talk to you!

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge acquires land in several ways including outright donation, purchase, or a combination of donation and purchase. Habitat purchases land at fair market value as determined by a licensed appraiser. We do not accept or purchase property in the floodplain.  We prefer to acquire lots in neighborhoods that already have existing Habitat homes; however, our Real Estate Committee will consider land donations in any of the eight parishes where we are chartered to build.  If you would like to speak to us about your property, please call (225) 927-6651.
